Supplier Diversity

Delta Air Lines recognizes the critical role of small, minority, and women-owned businesses in the overall strength of the U.S. economy and ultimately to Delta stakeholders. To maximize returns to Delta customers, shareholders, employees, and the communities in which we operate, Delta seeks to utilize the products and services of qualified small, minority, and women-owned businesses.

We are committed to pro-actively identifying and building relationships with high quality small, minority, and women-owned business enterprises (MWBE's) and we encourage our 1st tier suppliers to do the same. Our mission is to deliver value by developing partnerships with qualified diverse suppliers. The key element of success lies in our ability to establish relationships with diverse suppliers that can provide quality products and services in a competitive and global environment.

Code of Conduct

Delta Air Lines is committed to the highest standards of safety, customer service, ethical conduct, and environmental protection.  Not only are our employees held to these standards, but Delta has established a Supplier Code of Conduct to set the standard of behavior for all suppliers doing business with us.

Companies that are certified as small, minority, and/or women-owned business enterprises have an opportunity to partner with Delta in delivering value through quality products and services to our company and our customers. Suppliers are chosen first on their ability to meet the needs of our business. All suppliers must meet the following criteria:

  • Understanding of Delta’s business
  • Total cost of ownership
  • “Value-added” capabilities
  • Good financial standing
  • References and a proven track record
  • Ability to grow and partner with Delta
  • Core competency in supplier’s line of business

The second tier initiative augments our Supplier Diversity program and increases our ability to include MWBE’s in our supply chains by requiring Delta’s primary contractors to utilize and report their spending with diverse suppliers. By doing so, our Supplier Diversity efforts are greatly enhanced and meaningful business opportunities are extended even more so to MWBEs.

Facilitation and Support

Being a good corporate citizen is important to Delta. Each year our supplier diversity team works with numerous MWBE's locally and nationally, sponsoring and participating in various activities and events to expand business opportunities and relationships within the MWBE communities in which it serves.

Each year, Delta honors our top small, minority and women-owned suppliers who bring value to our partnership by providing quality products and services. The best were honored during the 20th Annual Delta Star Awards.

Delta’s small, minority and women-owned award recipients are selected based on the following criteria:

  • performance
  • innovation
  • cost reduction/savings
  • outreach/community involvement
